Metadata review

Hey all!
Does anyone have a list/standards they use to review metadata entries for data that is going to be published that can be shared? OR best practices/lessons learned they can share regarding reviewing metadata entries.

I feel this might be a function of the type/domain of the metadata in question.

Different domains likely have different standards and requirements (as applicable).

I know many might be using something like ISO-19115 Geographic information (and associated Workbooks (NOAA NCEI)) but that standard might not be applicable to genomic metadata for instance (or partially applicable). So and and so forth for other domains.

This is also likely a function of any funding agency requirements as well. I generally make sure that whatever metadata I maintain is in a reasonably well-defined format such that translation into other schemas is less of a pain.
